POET KSN's DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW FELICITATED

Poet KS Narasimha Swamy’s daughter Vijaya and son-in-law Ramesh were felicitated at Bhadravati on Sunday by Taluk Brahmana Sabha. Garthikere Raghanna, Dr. Harisha Delanthabettu, Sumithra V. K S Narasimha Swamy’s poetries although carried the ‘love’ theme had a message for the society and the people at the end, opined the famous poet KSN’s daughter Vijaya. Addressing the valedictory of the programme arranged by the taluk Brahmana Sabha to salute the great Kannada poet KSN on Sunday at Lions multipurpose service project centre she said that her father’s compositions also guided the readers towards the divinity. KSN used to read lot of English poetry and was always busy at home composing poem, she added. Her husband Ramesh also expressed his opinion about the poet.

Dr. Venkata Rao, president of the Shimoga district unit of Brahmana Sabha, who inaugurated the salutation programme to the poet through a recitation competition of his compositions, said that it was befitting to remember the great poet. He also called upon the Vipra community to be united and assured all support to the taluk unit on behalf of the district unit of the Sabha.

Dr. Sumithra V Bhat, lecturer and head of the department of Sanskrit in Sahyadri College, Shimoga, said that KSN was a poet who narrated the themes of life through his works. His thoughts were worth making a deep study for both language experts and social experts. She called upon the children who recited the compositions of KSN to experience the poet’s thoughts while singing the poem. Elaborating the KSN’s personality she noted that KS Narasimha Swamy had unveiled the images of women and mother as if a female had composed it, by experiencing the feelings of the character he portrayed. Poet’s ‘Shanubhogara Magala Maduve’ really carried a message to the parents who have daughters, she pointed out.

Recipient of national award Garthikere Raghanna sang ‘Hindina Saalina Hudugaru Naavu’ (backbench boys we are) poem of KSN and also very famous composition of KSN – Rayaru Bandaru Maavana Manege. He gave a tip to the singers that expression of poet’s feelings assumed greater importance than the musical aspect of it. He was one of the judges for the competition.

Another judge Nagalakshmi Shankaranarayana said that KSN’s horizons spread upto modern poetry also and his poems were ever relevant. She sang a composition of KSN ‘Theru’ (festival cart) that showcased the devotion to Lord Krishna.

Prizes were given away by the two judges and the guests to the winners in Senior, Junior and Sub Junior wing singers. Shantha KR won the first prize in senior division while Saraswathi Ganeshan and NG Harsha went the second and third prizes respectively. Karthk won the first prize in junior division. The second and third prizes were bagged by Suchitha and MS Vinay. The first prize under sub junior segment was won by N Vishak and the second and third prizes were won by Sanjana S Rao and Sukrutha. Apoorva Shastri was given a consolation prize.

Taluk Brahmana Sabha president MS Janardhana Iyengar presided over. Dr. Harisha Delanthabette gave a prefatory talk. KSN’s daughter Vijaya and son-in-law Ramesh were felicitated by taluk Brahmana Sabha. AN Suresh and Anantharaj Nayak were present.

KR Subramanya sang the invocation song. HN Subramanya of AIR anchored. General secretary of taluk Brahmana Sabha D Sathyanarayana Rao welcomed.
